Former iMate Joins Sybase To Grow Mobility Market

Sydney—March 26, 2008 — Sybase, Inc. (NYSE: SY), a leading provider of enterprise infrastructure and mobile software, today announced the appointment of Guy Maroney as Director of Mobility Solutions for Sybase Australia and New Zealand.

Based in Melbourne, Maroney will develop new business opportunities in enterprise mobility, promoting the company’s mobile database, mobile device management, and mobile middleware solutions as well as its expertise in RFID, Bluetooth and Infrared technologies.

Prior to joining Sybase, Maroney was the Telstra Account Director at iMate, the fastest growing provider of Windows Mobile® devices in Australia. In this role, he led the commercial and strategic operations on the Telstra account and managed relationships with resellers, enterprise users and developer communities.

Commenting on the appointment, Dereck Daymond, Managing Director Sybase ANZ, said: “Guy’s impressive insider knowledge of the mobility space will help us identify new business opportunities in the larger enterprise sector. We are extremely pleased to welcome him to the senior management team.”

Guy Maroney said: “As the workforce continues to become increasingly mobile, it is essential for organisations to have secure, reliable access to their applications and information, at any time, in any location and on any device. Sybase has heterogeneous solutions for these and other data movement requirements that work today, and scale to future demands.”

Maroney’s career encompasses more than 13 years’ experience in the IT industry. Before working for iMate, he was the Technology Strategy Lead at Telstra, where he grew the business operations of WOCT (Wireless Online Content Technology), Telstra’s internal team specialised in Content Technologies.

Previously Maroney held Business Development roles at Avanade, WDG, PowerServe and ZIVO.

Today, tens of millions of mobile devices and 20,000 customers and partners rely on Sybase’s expertise in enterprise mobility. Breaking down siloed approaches to deploying and managing mobile applications, Sybase was recently recognised as leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Multichannel Access Gateways.
