SYDNEY —March 12, 2008— Sybase, Inc. (NYSE: SY), a leading provider of enterprise infrastructure and mobile software, today announced the appointment of Karen Jacobsson as Account Manager for NSW, ACT and Queensland.

Based in Sydney, Jacobsson will drive sales in the government, telecommunications, media and healthcare industries. Focusing on the enterprise sector, she will accelerate growth in business areas such as data management, business continuity and data warehousing.

Prior to Sybase, Jacobsson was Account Manager at Veritas, later Symantec. Constantly overachieving sales quotas she contributed to the success on strategic accounts such as Optus and Hutchison Whampoa.

From 2000 to 2004, Jacobsson was Asia Pacific Sales Director for Retail and Supply Chain Management at Sun Microsystems. In this role, she managed 25 staff across Japan, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, India, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, Greater China, Australia and New Zealand.

Jacobsson’s sales career in the IT industry spans almost 20 years. Before joining Sun Microsystems, Jacobsson spent three years with Oracle as Account Director, where she secured some of Australia’s best known companies as reference customers, and closed major deals in both the database and the enterprise application space.

Her impressive vita also encompasses a stint as Business Development Manager at Digital Equipment Corporation, a position as National Channel Manager at Ashton Tate, as well as sales roles at Wang Australia, and HiSoft Computers.

Jacobsson started her career as a systems engineer at BHP Engineering, and owned TPM Consulting in the 1980s. She holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Sydney.
