Sydney — April 15, 2008— Sybase iAnywhere today announced the beta availability of “Panorama,” code-name for the next release of SQL Anywhere®, its market-leading data management and synchronisation solution. Over 200 new features have been added to SQL Anywhere that further enhance its leadership in enabling frontline database applications. Today, SQL Anywhere powers thousands of embedded and mobile database applications with over 10 million deployed licenses. SQL Anywhere innovation continues to provide improved performance, reliability, scalability and functionality to applications ranging from workgroup and branch office systems to mobile applications used by sales people and service technicians. Developers are invited to register for the beta program at: http://www.sybase.com/sqlany_panorama_beta_registration.
“SQL Anywhere is perfectly suited for frontline environments where excellent out-of-the-box performance, embeddability, and superior data synchronisation are required but administration is not readily available,” said Dave Neudoerffer, vice president, engineering. “With the version 11 release, we continue to raise the bar in addressing the mission-critical requirements of these database applications.”
SQL Anywhere version 11 includes over 200 new features and enhancements based on extensive feedback from embedded partners and customers. As a key component of the Sybase® Unwired Enterprise strategy of managing and mobilising information anywhere, anytime, SQL Anywhere continues to provide new and innovative functionality in the delivery of information beyond the traditional data center.
A preview of a few of the new features include:
• Enhanced parallel query capabilities – includes parallel sort, parallel index scans and index-only retrieval to make the most of today’s laptop, desktop, and server machines
• Embedded full-text search - provides a powerful yet compact facility to effectively search the ever increasing amounts of unstructured data in the front lines
• New data synchronisation options - builds on our rich, heterogeneous synchronization platform with the addition of new failover and load balancing options, background synchronisation, and support for MySQL
• .NET and Perl stored procedures – ensures developers can leverage their programming language experience to implement database business logic
